Business Arising

  • O&M Report and AIM Project Update:

Cody shared a slideshow of pictures taken over the last month of repairs & maintenance and pipelining activities. Cody and Jason reported on the status of each project as follows:

9 Mile & North (IRP) – As discussed in the last Board meeting, Jason prepared a draft letter to Irrigation Council requesting that the conversion of a small section of the WS4 ditch to a pipeline be removed from the project. Jason will make a few changes to the letter and attach a map, then submit the letter to Irrigation Council.

Gravity Pressure Pipeline System (“GPS”) (AIM) – We had the project groundbreaking ceremony on September 17 and are now removing topsoil. Pipelining will commence on November 3.

8-2 (Internally Funded Project) – The pipe has been received and we will start pipelining in January 2026.

  • Snowpack Report / Water Supply Forecast / RID Diversions:

The Board reviewed the snowpack and reservoir graphs on the Alberta Rivers website. The reservoir levels are in good shape. Diversions are expected to be around 50,000 – 52,000 acre feet this season. Shut off is scheduled for October 9 and has been posted on our website, on Facebook, in the Westwind Weekly, and text messages will be sent to irrigators.

The plants are up and running well. There have only been a few shutdowns, but power pool prices have continued to be low. We will have our next Irrican meeting in October.

  • RID financial –Jason reported:

The Board reviewed the recent bank, Mastercard and payroll reconciliations.

  • Strategic Plan – 2nd Review:

Margo Redelback with AIDA and Richard Phillips, Manager of the BRID, have been working with DFO to renew district licenses. Each district has to submit a request to have their agreement reviewed. Jason has already submitted the RID’s request.
